For our service, the vehicle must be presented at the registration authority in the Fontane-Center. If this is not possible, we cannot take on the application.

Present the vehicle
At the Fontane-Center at the agreed time. Arrange lawful transport in advance.
Collect your plates
After successful processing, check the documents, expiry date and insurance.

Your exact checklist depends on the vehicle and buyer. Digital copies are for preliminary review only and do not replace required originals.
Vehicle and purchase

The authority requires documents in German and a paper insurance confirmation for export plates. Any required residence registration certificate must be no more than six months old. We clarify the translations and originals needed for your case before the appointment.

Export plates or short-term plates?
German export plates (Ausfuhrkennzeichen, also called Zollkennzeichen) are intended for driving a vehicle abroad permanently. Short-term plates are for test and transfer journeys, not an automatically equivalent alternative. Recognition and insurance in transit and destination countries need separate checks.
Can everything be done online?
No. Our service requires the actual vehicle to be presented at the Fontane-Center in Königs Wusterhausen. Photos, videos or handing in papers do not replace this. Without vehicle presentation we cannot take on the application.
Can customers from Berlin, LOS or TF enquire?
Yes. These are our customer catchment areas, not additional registration locations. We first check whether LDS has jurisdiction for the actual buyer and keeper circumstances. Presenting a vehicle alone does not establish jurisdiction.
Does the vehicle need a valid roadworthiness inspection?
Required roadworthiness and safety inspection evidence must cover the planned export registration period. Missing or insufficiently valid evidence must be resolved in advance. Plates cannot be promised without checking the documents.
Are appointments and processing guaranteed?
No. A contact request or Meetergo booking is not a confirmed authority appointment or a registration guarantee. Please do not travel until we have agreed the arrangements with you.
Do the plates also complete import formalities?
No. Customs, import procedures and registration in the destination country are separate matters. Check insurance in transit and destination countries and the expiry date before driving.
